"Butterfly" Shadow
"Butterfly-like" shadow refers to a butterfly-shaped shadow on the chest X-ray showing the texture of both lungs thickened and blurred, with the hilum as the center. Is the clinical manifestation of pulmonary malaria. Pulmonary malaria is the damage to the lungs caused by Plasmodium. After being infected with Plasmodium, the body may or may not have the typical systemic symptoms of malaria, and obvious respiratory symptoms such as cough, sputum, shortness of breath, wheezing, or chest pain may occur. Its clinical manifestations include malarial asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, pulmonary edema, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Pulmonary malaria is a lung manifestation of systemic damage to Plasmodium. The incubation period is equivalent to the onset of malaria infection. Plasmodium vivax and oval malaria are 10-20 days, three-day malaria is 70-80 days, and malaria is 10- 14 days.
