Chagas disease

Chagas disease is a protozoal infectious disease caused by trypanosomal infection. There are two types of trypanosomiasis, African trypanosomiasis and American trypanosomiasis. The former is distributed in western and central Africa. The main source of infection is humans and the transmission medium is T. chinensis. The latter is distributed in eastern Africa. Animals and humans are the source of infection. African trypanosomiasis is predominantly neurological.
