Orbital foreign body
Common orbital foreign bodies are metal shrapnel, air gun shells, or wood and bamboo fragments. May have local swelling and pain. If combined with purulent infection, it can cause orbital cellulitis or fistula. Because the foreign metal in the orbit is mostly wrapped by soft tissues, and there are delicate tissue structures such as nerves, blood vessels and muscles in the deep orbit, it is not necessary to forcefully remove such foreign bodies in the deep orbit. Plant foreign bodies can cause chronic purulent inflammation and should be removed completely as soon as possible.
