Accessory nerve examination
The accessory nerves dominate the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the trapezius muscle, the former mainly turning the neck to the contralateral side and the latter acting as a shrug. When examining the secondary nerve, pay attention to observe whether there is atrophy, torticollis and vertical shoulders.
