Optic nipple edema
What is optic nipple edema and how does it cause it? Optic nipples are also called congested nipples. It is a passive congestive edema of the optic nerve head without primary inflammation. Ophthalmoscope showed congestion of the optic nipples, bulging, and blurred edges. Optic papillary edema is not a truly independent disease, but a common sign of pressure imbalance on both sides of the sieve plate caused by various factors. Often caused by intracranial, intraocular, orbital, and some systemic diseases.
