Ovarian wedge resection
In the 1950s and 1960s, wedge resection of the ovary was a routine surgical treatment for polycystic ovary syndrome. Women with polycystic ovaries will have thick cortical layers outside their ovaries, so the eggs cannot be discharged normally. A surgical incision can help a woman's eggs to drain normally.
