Cough chocolate sputum
Sputum is mucus secreted by the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract (bronchus, trachea, throat, nose). Under normal circumstances, the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract secretes a small amount of mucus, which plays a role in keeping the respiratory tract moist. Dipping liquid can also act as a barrier, it can stick to the bacteria and dust, foreign bodies that invade the respiratory tract, because there is a large amount of "lysozyme" in the mucus, which can kill the bacteria. Normal people generally do not expectorate, and only a few people get up in the morning and have a small amount of sputum cough. The color is clear and transparent, which is normal. When the respiratory tract changes abnormally, or at different stages of the same disease, the sputum volume, quality, and taste change. Therefore, if you carefully observe these changes in daily life, you can discern diseases. Red-brown or chocolate-colored sputum is found in pulmonary amoebiasis caused by amoebic liver abscesses that penetrate into the lungs.
