Incision and drainage of suppurative tenosynovitis
The finger flexor tendon is surrounded by a tendon sheath. The inner layer of the tendon sheath is a closed synovial sac, and the outer layer is a non-stretchable bone fibrous cannula composed of a finger sheath-like ligament and the phalanges. Tendon sheath inflammatory swelling, increased pressure, can cause tendon ischemia and necrosis. The little finger and thumb tendon sheath communicate with the ulnar and radial synovial sacs, respectively. The former can spread to the latter. Indicating tenosynovitis can spread to the inter-fish space, and middle and ring fingers tenosynovitis can spread to the palmar space. Therefore, for suppurative tenosynovitis, early incision and drainage should be performed.
