Bleeding time

Under certain conditions, the time required for the natural capillary flow from the blood to naturally stop after puncturing the skin capillaries is called bleeding time (BT). BT measurement is affected by the number and quality of platelets, the structure and function of capillaries, and the interaction between platelets and capillaries, but is less affected by blood coagulation factor content and activity. BT measurement methods include the Duke method and the Ivy method. Currently, a standardized bleeding method (TBT) is recommended.
