Proximal renal tubular acidosis in children
Proximal renal tubular acidosis (pRTA) is caused by a variety of secondary factors (drugs, poison damage, cystine storage disease, Wilson disease) and / or congenital causes of proximal renal tubules. Renal tubular carbonic anhydrase dysfunction and H + excretion dysfunction, HCO3-reduction in the proximal tubule is reduced, and hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis and alkaline urine can also cause hypokalemia.
