Multiple calf deformity
Polycystic calf deformity is a rare congenital anomaly, and its major calf and pelvis are located outside the renal parenchyma. The kidney is often disc-shaped, and renal blood vessels are often around the flattened hilum. Some people believe that the abnormality is the result of ureteral buds developing too quickly. This extrarenal calyx often does not cause symptoms, but abnormal urine drainage can cause infections and stones. Sometimes the renal calyx becomes blunt, and the imaging features of this change are easily misdiagnosed as pyelonephritis or obstruction. Obstruction or infection is an indication for surgical treatment.
