Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis in children
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is a cell immune-mediated autoimmune disease characterized by acute inflammatory demyelination of the central nervous system. This disease usually occurs after acute infection or vaccination, so it is also called post-infection encephalomyelitis or post-vaccination encephalomyelitis. There is no history of vaccination or infection before the illness, and they can be collectively referred to as acute disseminated encephalomyelitis.
