Mercury Dermatitis
Mercury dermatitis refers to eczema-like changes in dermatitis caused by exposure or oral exposure to mercury. Mercury dermatitis can be caused by local exposure to calomel or other therapeutic mercury agents (red mercury, 5% ammonia oxide mercury) and internal medicines containing mercury. Litres of mercury can cause irritating dermatitis even at very low concentrations (1: 1000). Phenylmercury, thimerosal, and mercury nitrate can also cause dermatitis.
