Pediatric mixed connective tissue disease

Pediatric mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) is a syndrome characterized by clinical manifestations of connective tissue diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus, polymyositis, and systemic sclerosis. An autoimmune disease that does not meet the diagnosis of one of these diseases and has high titer anti-ribonucleoprotein (RNP) antibodies in the serum. This disease was an independent syndrome first reported and named by Sharp in 1972. It is a representative disease of type II overlapping collagen disease. Different opinions exist as to whether MCTD is an independent disease.
