Glutathione S-transferase

Glutathione S-transferase (GST): GST is a group of enzymes related to liver detoxification. The enzyme is mainly present in the liver and trace amounts of it in the kidney, small intestine, testis, ovary and other tissues. Because liver cytoplasm is rich in GST, when liver cells are damaged, enzymes are quickly released into the blood, resulting in increased serum GST activity.
