Acute patellar dislocation
Patella dislocations and subluxations have a higher incidence in adults and adolescents, especially female adolescents. The majority of patella dislocations are lateral dislocations, and there have been reports of iatrogenic medial dislocations due to mishandling of patella reconstruction surgery. However, true traumatic patella dislocation is not common, and most cases of dislocation or subluxation are associated with femoral condylar dysplasia, asymmetry of the patella, or abnormal Q angle.
