Open pneumothorax
Open pneumothorax refers to the pneumothorax where the leaky channel of the pneumothorax is continuously open, and gas enters and exits the pleural cavity with the breath. The cause of open pneumothorax is chest trauma, which is often caused by car accident injuries, gunshot wounds, and explosive wall injuries. The pleural cavity communicates with the outside world, allowing air to pass through chest wounds, lungs, trachea and esophageal ruptures or soft tissue defects. Free access to the pleural cavity, causing normal negative pressure to disappear.
