Sphenoid sinus malignancy
Sphenoid sinus malignancies are rare clinically. According to Godtfiedson (1947), 218 cases of sinus malignant tumors were analyzed. The most occurred in maxillary sinuses, accounting for 86.7%, ethmoid sinuses accounting for 43.6%, and sphenoid sinus accounting for 2.3%. Sphenoid sinus malignancies are classified into primary and secondary. Secondary to distant organ metastases include preschizoid carcinoma, myeloma, thyroid cancer, thyroid cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, breast cancer, and kidney cancer. Tumor invaders from adjacent organs mainly include tumors in the nasal sinuses, nasopharynx, and sphenoidal saddle. Barrs (1974) believes that sphenoid sinus metastases have more distant metastases than adjacent organs.
