Lipid deposition myopathy
Lipid storage myopathy (LSM) refers to the abnormal accumulation of lipids in muscle and is a major pathological change. This disease is a metabolic myopathy caused by a defect in the long-chain fatty acid oxidation process of the muscles, and is a manifestation of a genetic disorder of the fat metabolism of the nervous system. The disease was first described by Engel et al. In 1973. Cao Peizhi et al. (1990) first reported two cases in China, and have been reported successively since then.
