Abnormal serum prothrombin

In the absence of vitamin K, hepatocytes cannot synthesize normal vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors (II, Ⅸ, Ⅸ, X), and can only synthesize abnormal prothrombin without coagulation function. In hepatocellular carcinoma, due to the abnormal synthesis of prothrombin precursors by cancer cells, the prothrombin precursors are insufficiently carboxylated, thereby generating a large amount of APT. APT measurement is a marker that reflects hepatocellular carcinoma.
