Giant cell tumor of bone
Giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) is often called benign giant cell tumor of bone or osteoclastoma. It is one of the more common primary tumors of bone tissue. Giant cell tumors of the bone are benign lesions of bone that are usually solitary and locally invasive. It is also believed that giant cell tumor of bone is a potentially malignant tumor. This tumor is neither completely benign nor completely malignant, but is somewhere between these two extremes. The degree of invasion varies, and some giant cell tumors can be controlled for a long time after relatively simple surgery. Giant cell tumors can appear disseminated. In 1980, the American Society of Skeletal Muscle Tumor proposed the bone tumor surgical staging system to form giant cell tumor of bone as a low-grade malignant tumor.
