Renal artery stenosis lesions range in severity from obvious renal artery stenosis to clinically undetectable renal branch disease. Severe stenosis can cause renal perfusion damage, reduce glomerular filtration rate (GFR), cause sodium water retention, increased extracellular fluid volume, hypertension, and renal failure.
