Secondary tuberculosis, also known as adult tuberculosis, is a child who has been infected with tuberculosis. Active tuberculosis has occurred after the primary lesion has been at rest or even recovered for a period of time. There are two possibilities for its occurrence: Mycobacterium tuberculosis in the foci regains activity, causing the foci to re-ignite, which is referred to as endogenous recurrence. First, the disease is re-infected by external infection of mycobacterium tuberculosis after the primary infection has been cured, which is called exogenous reinfection. Secondary tuberculosis is more common in older children and adolescents over 12 years of age. The main disease type is invasive tuberculosis.
