Blunt contusion
Blunt strokes can force the eyeball to recede into the eye socket, and can damage the eye's superficial structures (eyelid, conjunctiva, sclera, cornea, and lens) and the back of the eye (retina, optic nerve). Blunt bruises can also cause fractures of the orbital bone around the eyeball.
