Off-white stool
Normal stool should be yellow-brown. This is because the bile secreted by liver cells enters the hepato-intestinal circulation. After a series of chemical changes, the yellow-green bilirubin in the bile becomes yellow-brown and is excreted with the stool. Biliary obstruction, the passage of bile into the intestine obstructs the bile in the digestive tract, causing the stool to be gray-white clay.
