"Indifferent" hyperthyroidism

Apatheticthyrotoxicosis, also known as masked hyperthyroidism, is a special type of hyperthyroidism. Patients have no symptoms of typical hyperthyroidism or their symptoms are opposite to those of typical hyperthyroidism. They are mainly manifested as weight loss, mental depression, lack of other hypermetabolic syndromes and symptoms of increased neurological stress, and are easily missed or misdiagnosed. Patients are generally older and more common in women.
