Birth canal laceration
During pregnancy, the soft birth canal has a series of changes in order to adapt to childbirth, such as the tissue becomes soft, the elasticity increases, and it has a certain degree of stretchability. Despite these changes, when the fetus is delivered through the birth canal, the degree of expansion required is large. Most women, especially primiparas, may still have different degrees of damage to the cervix, vagina and perineum during delivery. The so-called birth canal laceration refers to the laceration of the soft birth canal during delivery.
