Fracture and dislocation of atlas
Atlas fracture and dislocation symptoms typical symptoms: neck pain, stiffness, patients often support the head with both hands to avoid its movement. For example, when the second cervical nerve (the greater occipital nerve) is involved, the patient feels occipital pain, cervical muscle spasm, and restricted neck movement. If accompanied by spinal cord injury, there may be loss of motor sensation. Serious injuries can cause paralysis or even immediate death.
