Serum beta-hydroxybutyric acid
& beta; -Hydroxybutyric acid (& beta; -HB) has a molecular weight of 104.1kD, accounting for about 70% of the total ketone bodies. In patients with severe acidosis, NADH production increases due to acidosis, which in turn promotes the formation of acetoacetate & beta; -HB to acetoacetate from the normal 2: 1 to 16: 1. Of the methods for & beta; -HB, enzymatic method is the most sensitive, fast, economical, and simple, and it is a commonly used method in clinical practice.
