Extrapleural thoracoplasty
Extrapleural thoracoplasty is an operation in which a group of ribs are removed under the periosteum and the local chest wall is collapsed to reduce the thoracic cavity in that area. The ribs regenerated from the periosteum will keep the chest wall from collapsing 6-8 weeks after surgery, and the chest cavity will shrink forever.
