Ulnar nerve advancement
The cubital tunnel syndrome refers to the compression of the ulnar nerve of the elbow caused by various reasons. In the past, ulnar neuropathy was simply attributed to "ulnar neuritis" caused by elbow eversion. In fact, ulnar neuropathy is primarily a chronic injury secondary to the elbow. In 1957, Osborne established the concept of ulnar nerve entrapment, which he called "late ulnar neuritis. There are more men than women in this disease, most of which are related to chronic repetitive strain of the elbow and soft tissue degeneration. Feindel and Stratford named the ulnar nerve region of the elbow as the "elbow canal," and named a series of syndromes mainly in the ulnar nerve within the area as the "elbow canal syndrome."
