Carbon source utilization test

The carbon source utilization test is an identification test for the utilization of a single source of carbon source by bacteria. In the citrate medium, bacteria only use citrate as a carbon source. After decomposition, sodium carbonate is used to make the medium alkaline, and the pH indicator bromothymol blue changes from light green to dark blue. Commonly used test methods include citrate utilization test and malonate utilization test.
