Brainstem auditory evoked potential

Brainstem auditory evoked potential (BAEP) is a more sensitive objective indicator of brainstem damage. It is the electrical activity of nerve impulses caused by acoustic stimulation on the brainstem auditory conduction pathway, which can objectively and sensitively reflect the function of the central nervous system. BAEP records neuropotential activity in the auditory conduction pathway and reflects the functional status of cochlea to brainstem-related structures. Any lesion or injury involving the auditory channel will affect BAEP. Often when the brainstem is slightly damaged and clinically asymptomatic and signs do not change, BAEP has changed.
