Nitrate reduction test

The nitrate reduction test is based on the ability of some bacteria to reduce nitrate to nitrite. The nitrite reacts with acetic acid to generate nitrite. The nitrite reacts with p-aminobenzenesulfonic acid in the reagent to form diazobenzenesulfonic acid. This is a test method based on the principle of combining with α-naphthylamine to form N-αnaphthylamine benzene sulfonic acid.
