Vitamin K response test

Vitamin K response test: Factors Ⅱ, Ⅶ, Ⅸ, and X are synthesized in liver cells. Vitamin K is an essential substance for the synthesis of these factors. With sufficient supply of vitamin K, the amount of these factors synthesized depends on liver cell function. Coagulation factors and prothrombin jointly determine the length of the prothrombin time (PT), so the response of prothrombin time to vitamin K can estimate the ability of liver cells to synthesize internal factors, and it also indirectly reflects the liver's synthetic ability.
