Swelling of the parotid gland

The anterior border of the parotid gland is the leading edge of the mandibular branch, the posterior border is the upper posterior process of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the external ear canal, the upper border is the lower edge of the sacral arch, and the lower border is flat or 1-2 cm below the mandible angle. There are many reasons for the swelling of the parotid gland area. It can be a disease of the parotid gland itself, a local sign of a systemic disease, or a disease of non-parotid tissues such as chewing muscles.
