Serum thyroglobulin
Thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG) is an acidic glycoprotein composed of four subunits. It is synthesized by the liver and has a molecular weight of 60 kD. TBG is the main carrier protein of thyroid hormones in the blood circulation. It plays an important role in the storage, transportation, metabolism of thyroid hormones, and maintaining the concentration and dynamic stability of free thyroid hormones.
