Alkaline phosphatase is mostly found in mature neutrophils. Under alkaline conditions, alkaline phosphatase can hydrolyze phosphate esters into sodium phosphate and glycerol after being activated by magnesium ions. Sodium phosphate reacts with calcium chloride, cobalt nitrate, and ammonium sulfide to produce brown cobalt sulfide. Localized in the cytoplasm.
