Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a pathogen that causes intestinal transmission of hepatitis E. It is spherical, has no capsule on the surface, is icosahedral, is symmetrical, and has protruding structures on the surface. The internal nucleic acid is single-stranded RNA. The laboratory tests of HEV mainly detect antibodies, including IgA, IgM, and IgG. Because IgA and IgM have similar meanings, IgM and IgG are generally detected. The detection method is mainly ELISA method.
