Neck flexion test
The patient lies supine, or can sit upright or upright. The examiner places one hand in front of the patient's chest and the other hand behind the pillow, slowly and forcefully lifts his head to bend the neck forward, and if the lower extremity has radiation pain, it is positive . Positive patients are mainly found in patients with "root and shoulder type" of lumbar disc herniation. The main mechanism is when flexing the neck. The dura mater is moved upwards, and the spinal nerve roots are passively involved, which exacerbates the compression of the nerve roots by the protruding intervertebral discs, resulting in radiation pain in the lower limbs.
