R-glutamyltransferase
r-glutamyltransferase GGT, formerly known as r-glutamyl transpeptidase r-GT, is an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of r-glutamyl from glutathione to another peptide or another amino acid. It is present on stem cell membranes and microsomes and is involved in the metabolism of glutathione. The kidney, liver and pancreas are abundant, but GGT in serum mainly comes from the hepatobiliary system. Γ-glutamyltransferase (γ-GT) is an oxidoreductase It is a very important transferase in human serum.
