Red blood cell life

The life span of red blood cells is 100 to 130 days, with an average of about 125 days. In addition, the use of 51 chromium-labeled red blood cells reduces 50% in circulating blood, that is, the T50 half-life is used as a clinical indicator. This method is relatively simple. Normal people are 25 to 40 days, less than 20 days. In order to shorten the time, the life span of patients with hemolytic anemia is significantly shortened after 17 days. For example, sickle cell anemia is shortened to 5-15 days, and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is shortened to about 10 days.
