Serum trypsin

Trypsin is a hydrolase secreted by the pancreas. It can hydrolyze amino acid compounds connected by peptide chains and has esterase activity. Very little in normal serum. Determination of serum trypsin has certain significance for the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis.
