Glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase

Red blood cell enzymes play an important role in regulating red blood cell metabolism. Deficiency of enzymes leads to reduced energy supply and shortened red blood cell life to cause hemolytic anemia. In the past these diseases were called congenital non-spherical erythrocyte hemolytic anemia. GAPD is an oxidoreductase in lysosomes, which is rarely used in clinical tests.
