Acute nonspecific orchitis
Orchitis is an acute inflammatory response following testicular infection. It is usually secondary to epididymitis. Bacteria pass through the lymph or vas deferens to the epididymis, and then spread to the testes, causing epididymitis. Due to abundant testicular blood flow, simple orchitis caused by bacteria is rare. Simple orchitis is mostly caused by mumps virus. It has also been reported that coxsackie virus and ecovirus can also cause orchitis, but it is quite rare.
