Multidrug resistance gene
The multidrug resistance (MDR) gene encodes P-glycoprotein (P-170), which is located on the cell membrane and functions as a drug pump. The drug entering the cell is pumped out of the cell and the cell becomes resistant. MDR positive indicates multidrug resistance in various cancers.
