Challenge test

A provocation test is a test that simulates natural onset conditions, causes a mild allergic attack with a small amount of allergens, and is used to determine allergens. It is mainly used for type Ⅰ allergy and sometimes also for type Ⅳ allergy. Especially when the skin test or other tests can not obtain a positive result, this method can exclude false positive reactions and false negative reactions in skin tests. The challenge test is divided into specific challenge test and non-specific challenge test. Non-specific challenge is to inhale with histamine or methylcholine to observe the patient's sensitivity to type Ⅰ allergy, so as to analyze the cause or determine the effect; specific challenge is to use antigen as a test to identify allergen Have some value. Depending on the site of the patient's disease, provocation tests for different organs can be performed. Often the bronchial provocation test (BPT), nasal mucosa provocation test and conjunctival provocation test are performed.
