Serum amylase
The amylase in the serum is mainly type and belongs to glycoside chain hydrolase, mainly from the pancreas. In addition, the proximal duodenum, lungs, uterus, and lactating mammary glands are also secreted in small amounts. Amylase plays an important role in the digestion of polysaccharide compounds in food. Determination of serum amylase activity is mainly used for the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis.
