Toxic nodular goiter

The disease is a hyperthyroid disease different from Graves' disease reported by Plummer in 1913, so it is called Plummer disease. It is caused by excess thyroid hormone secreted by nodular lesions in the thyroid gland. The narrow definition of nodular lesions of Plummer's disease refers to hyperfunctional adenoma (toxic adenoma), and it also includes toxic nodular goiter in a broad sense. In fact, most of Plummer's disease reported in the past is considered to be adenoma-like hyperplasia.
