Furunculus and furunculosis are acute purulent deep folliculitis and inflammation around the hair follicle caused by staphylococcal invasion into the hair follicle. Recurrent, multiple tadpoles are called furunculosis, which is often delayed and difficult to heal. More common in adolescence and adulthood, more men than women.
